Port of Baltimore handling Mega ships

Today, the Port of Baltimore is one of only four US East Coast ports that handling some of the mega box-ships in the world. In particular, The Port of Baltimore has seen a significant jump in its container business due to newly expanded Panama Canal last year.

In 2016, the port handled a record 538,567 containers. Since July 2016, when the port welcomed its first mega container ship ”Evergreen Ever Lambent” through the Panama Canal, containers are up seven percent.

Therefore, the MDOT MPA (Maryland Department of Transportation’s Maryland Port Administration) makes room by utilizing the additional land to expand its container storage location…Read More
